Journalism and Digital Culture

The School of Media and Communication has growing research and teaching strengths in a number of areas related to the intersection of journalism and digital culture, including multimedia journalism, citizen journalism, data journalism, alternative models of digital news production, and challenges to high quality journalism in the digital context.

You will develop a research profile in one or more of these areas that will contribute to the University’s ambition to excel at REF2020 with a sustained record of internationally excellent publications and successful research grant applications. With support from a mentor, you will take a leading role in the organisation of School activities in the area of journalism and digital culture (such as inviting speakers and building collaborative networks). Your contribution to teaching, supervision and administration will increase over the course of the Fellowship through a structured professional development plan.

The successful candidate will have significant proven research experience in the area of journalism and digital culture, the ability to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, excellent communication skills and a clear and compelling ‘5 year plan’.
