The newly founded Leeds Centre for Reproduction and Early Development is built on our reputation for research and education in the fields of Reproductive Science and Medicine, Pregnancy and Perinatal Medicine and Paediatric Epidemiology and Child Health. Our research portfolio encompasses the fundamental science that underpins the continuum from conception through childhood to adulthood, its translation to reproductive and perinatal medicine and the study of childhood diseases that impact on adult health and life course. The close working relationship between our Centre and the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust provides us with superb opportunities for the conduct of clinically important biomedical research in specialisms such as infertility, maternity, neonatology and paediatrics, including oncology.
We are looking to recruit talented individuals to develop our research portfolio around the links between gamete and embryo development, maternal environments and poor nutrition, obesity and their impact on infertility, pregnancy and perinatal health, reproductive ageing and metabolic disturbance. You will enhance research-led teaching in the theme of Reproduction and Development by the supervision of postgraduate research students and by contribution to the development of our MScs in Clinical Embryology and Assisted Reproduction Technology as well as the MSc and Intercalated programmes in Molecular- and Cardiovascular- Medicine and the undergraduate MBChB. You will be expected to submit grant applications for early career researcher awards/fellowships to the MRC, BBSRC or Wellcome Trust. You will also be required to work with colleagues across the Centre and Schools to submit larger, collaborative research grants.
You must have significant, proven research experience within the field of reproductive biology or reproductive medicine / obstetrics and gynaecology. You must be highly motivated, have a demonstrable potential and commitment to teach at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate level and have a clear and compelling vision to support the development of their research ideas and so build an academic career in the field of Reproduction and Development.

If you are clinically qualified these Fellowships provide an opportunity to develop on your existing academic experience and establish a clinical academic career. The nature of individual clinical / academic workload profiles will be determined by your current level of specialist training and agreement with our local NHS organisations, with whom we work in close partnership. We actively encourage applications from specialty trainee level to those who already hold specialist registration.
University Grade 8 (£38,511 to £45,954)
For clinical academic posts remuneration will be on the appropriate clinical academic scale (dependent upon individual clinical experience / qualification and therefore the level of Honorary Clinical Contract).
