Relocating to work at the University
If you’re applying for a job at the University of Leeds from outside the UK this page has some key things you should consider.

Visas and immigration
The UK Government’s Visas and Immigration website should have all the up-to-date information you need. You may also want to check whether you need to pay an immigration health surcharge and whether there are any legal requirements for family entering the UK.
Financial support for overseas applicants
Successful applicants may be eligible for the following financial help towards moving to the UK:
Visas and immigration
We can pay you back (reimburse you) for the cost of a standard visa application and the related Immigration Health Surcharge, if you are coming to the UK under one of the following routes (and don’t have any other funding to cover the cost of your visa):
- Skilled Worker - initial and extension
- Global Talent, if the visa was obtained to start/continue to work at the University of Leeds - initial (including endorsement and visa) and extension
- Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in the UK.
If you need financial help with other costs relating to immigration, such as dependant visas/settlement, UK ECCTIS fees or travel to/cost of a UKVCAS appointment in the UK, we might be able to help with an interest free loan.
Costs of travel and relocation
We may also be able to pay back (reimburse) you and your family for travel costs and the costs of moving, depending on the role you are taking at the University. Maximum limits and eligibility criteria apply.
- For roles at Grades 7-9, we can reimburse you for costs related to moving your household items and travel for your family.
- For roles at Grades 10 we can reimburse you for moving costs (including legal and estate agent fees), temporary accommodation, as well as moving your household items and travel for your family.
