The University is keeping colleagues informed about the impact of Brexit on existing staff via a dedicated web page.

The page includes information on:

New staff

If you were living in the UK on or before 31 December 2020, you will need to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to be able to continue to live and work, and access benefits like the NHS, in the UK from 1 July 2021. Until 30 June 2021, we can accept your passport or national ID card as proof of your right to work in the UK. However, if you start work at Leeds on or after 1 July 2021, we will need to see proof of your pre-settled or settled status.

If you are moving, or have moved, to the UK on or after 1 January 2021, you are not eligible for the EU Settlement Scheme.  As with pre-existing residents, we can accept your passport or national ID card as proof of your right to work in the UK until 30 June 2021. However, for start dates from 1 July 2021, you will need to have obtained a work visa before travelling to the UK.
